A note from The Twister Tree as we open our doors online
Every toy in this shop has a story.
Not just the toy itself — where it came from, what it’s made of, whether it’s worth the box it comes in — but the story of why it’s here at all. Why Maria chose it. Why she thought it belonged on the shelf alongside everything else. And more often than not, that story involves her own children.
The Twister Tree started simply. A love of good toys, a belief that the right plaything at the right moment can genuinely shape a child, and a desire to share that with other families. What it has grown into is something a little harder to describe — part shop, part community, part ongoing conversation between parents who are all just trying to do right by their kids.
She’s Lived It
Maria doesn’t sell toys she hasn’t thought carefully about. Many of the brands and products you’ll find here are ones she discovered through her own children — watched them play with, saw them return to again and again, noticed how they grew with them. When she recommends something for a three-year-old who loves building, or a seven-year-old who’s lost interest in everything, she’s drawing on real experience. Not a catalogue. Not an algorithm.
Every single item in the shop has been handpicked. That’s not a figure of speech — it means that if something didn’t meet her standard, it didn’t make it to the shelf. In a world where you can order almost anything from almost anywhere and have it arrive in a brown box tomorrow, that kind of curation is genuinely rare.
The People Who Pop In
There’s a particular kind of customer that The Twister Tree seems to attract. Parents who aren’t quite sure what they’re looking for. Grandparents who want to get it right. People who’ve bought the flashy thing before and watched it gather dust. People who want someone to actually talk to them about what their child might love.
Some of them come in for a gift and stay for a chat. Some of them come in for a chat and leave with a gift. Either way, they tend to come back — and often they bring someone with them.
That, more than anything, is what this shop is about.
Now Online
The Twister Tree has always been a place you had to know about to find. Word of mouth, a recommendation from a friend, walking past and noticing the window.
We’re changing that.
This website is our way of opening the door a little wider — to families across Cyprus who might not be able to pop in, to people searching for something specific, to anyone who wants the reassurance of knowing that what they’re buying has been chosen by someone who cares.
You’ll find our full range here, browsable by age, category, and developmental need. You can order online and collect in-store, or have your order delivered. And if you’re not sure what you’re looking for, you’re always welcome to reach out — that part hasn’t changed.
We’re proud to be local. We’re proud to be small. And we’re proud that after all these years, some of the children who came into this shop as toddlers are now old enough to choose their own toys.
That’s the best kind of growth there is.
Welcome to The Twister Tree online. We hope to see you — here, or in the shop.
